Policies and Procedures for Therapy Sessions
  • Therapy sessions are scheduled on an on-going weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis and last fifty minutes. Payment is due at each session, by cash or cheque. Receipts are issued at that time and should be saved for tax or insurance purposes.

  • All scheduled sessions are your financial responsibility. If you should have to cancel an appointment, please provide 24 hours' notice. Failure to give 24 hours' cancellation notice will result in you being charged the session fee for the missed appointment. There is often a waiting list for therapy so providing notice of cancellation will allow someone else the opportunity for an appointment.

  • I ask clients not to arrive before their appointment time to respect the privacy of everyone. Appointments are scheduled 15 minutes a part to help ensure confidentiality.

  • The therapy relationship may be terminated by either therapist or client. Should you decide to leave therapy, notifying me in advance of the termination will allow me the opportunity to support you emotionally in your decision, so that you end with a sense of closure. Should I decide that your presenting issues are not a fit with my area of expertise, I am committed to helping you find a suitable therapist with whom you can continue the healing process.

  • If, at any time, you feel that your needs are not being met or that you are not getting what you want out of your sessions, please let me know so that we can discuss your needs and adjust your therapy goals and plan for treatment.

  • As a Registered Individual, Couple and Family Therapist, I protect the communication I have with my clients. I do not provide information unless I have my client's written consent. There are a few legal exceptions to confidentiality that are explained to all clients in the first session. The exceptions to confidentiality include the disclosure of harm to oneself or someone else, the abuse or suspected abuse of a child under age 16 (by law, CAS must be informed), or if required to by court order. Also, should a client arrive at a session intoxicated and at risk to self and others if operating a motor vehicle, steps will be taken to ensure the safety of everyone.
